Climate of India In Brief

Climate of India

Most of our India is a subtropical country and that means very hot summers, humid rainy season and winters are medium cold. The rain fall are more or less intense and long lasting depending on area.

While in inland mountain of Kashmir, Sikkim the monsoon doesn't arrive at all. Along the coastel area is hot through out the year, especially in the center and south, but the heat is tempered by the breeze. But the northern mountain regions and the costal area's of our country have different types of weather conditions throughout the whole year.

The India's unique geography and geology strongly influence its climate, particularly in the Himalayas in the north and The Thar Desert in the northwest. The Himalayas act as a barrier to the frigid katabatic winds flowing down from Central Asia. Thus, North India stays warm or only mildly cold during winter, summer, the same phenomenon makes India relatively hot. Although the Tropic of Cancer - the boundary between the Tropic and subtropics - passes the middle of  India. Therefore scientists consider the whole country tropical.
